eCornell CourseNotes
What Are eCornell CourseNotes?
eCornell CourseNotes enhance the eCornell learning experience by helping students take notes, highlight important information, search for keywords and phrases, and read materials while they are not online.
CourseNotes download to a computer much like music files, so that students can access them anywhere and any time. Unlike ebooks, CourseNotes are much more than "pictures of pages." Students have the ability to search the CourseNotes of single courses, or any group of CourseNotes that have been purchased. Students can also take searchable notes, highlight important portions of the course, easily print out each course, customize page views, and even copy-and-paste content with bibliographic support.

How Do CourseNotes Work?
CourseNotes requires a free software download of VitalSource Bookshelf (available at www.vitalsource.com/index/bookshelf). The Bookshelf allows students to download CourseNotes on up to two separate computers (i.e. a copy at home and at work). CourseNotes and the VitalSource Bookshelf are compatible with Windows PCs and Macs.
Students don't need to be connected to the Internet to use CourseNotes; they can read, highlight or take notes whenever they are at a computer. The Bookshelf is designed to allow students to customize the page layout so they can read the material exactly the way they want to see it. Students can choose from a Browser, Column or Reading view.
Students can search CourseNotes easily using keywords and phrases. They can also search multiple CouseNotes simultaneously to find information about a topic, such as "effective communication," that is discussed in more than one eCornell course.
Students also have the ability to highlight content in CourseNotes and to choose the highlighting color in order to differentiate different pieces of information. Students can also take notes right in the bookshelf about the materials and those notes are fully searchable.
